After 27 years with NASVI, Linda Hancock, our bookkeeper, is retiring on June 30th. While we will miss her dearly, we are thrilled for this much-deserved new stage in her life. After all, Linda’s been working since she was nine years old!
Linda’s journey to NASVI started in Arkansas, where she grew up in a small rural community in a family of 14. In 1998, she joined her brother in Kansas City and made a fresh start, quickly settling into her role at NASVI. Over the years, she became an invaluable part of our team, handling far more than just payables — she’s been a “jack of all trades, master of none,” as she puts it.
When thinking back on her time at NASVI, Linda shared that she truly enjoys her work, but it’s the people she will miss the most. She says, “NASVI has a family atmosphere, full of wonderful people who have supported and encouraged me throughout the years.” She has a deep appreciation for leaders, Big Al, who hired her in 1998, and now Andrea, explaining, “I appreciate them both very much for what they’ve given me and the opportunity to work here all these years.”
A self-professed non-morning person, Linda is most looking forward to not having to wake up early for work anymore! But she doesn’t plan to slow down completely. She hopes to volunteer, possibly at her church or a hospital, to help others. “I’ve always taken care of people throughout my life, and I enjoy it,” she said.
Linda is also considering returning to Arkansas, where much of her family still lives. She plans to spend time there before deciding whether to make a permanent move.
Beyond work and family, Linda has a deep love for music, books, and history. She’ll have plenty of time to read her favorites, like historical romance novels and suspenseful mysteries, particularly those by John Grisham, who happens to be from her hometown area.
Linda’s warmth, dedication and humor have made a lasting impact on everyone at NASVI. While we are sad to see her go, we are incredibly grateful for her years of service and wish her nothing but happiness and an adorable little dog in retirement. No matter where she goes or what she does, she’ll always be part of the NASVI family.
