Sergio Hernandez, Machinist
If you’ve ordered a valve from NASVI, chances are Sergio Hernandez had a hand in getting it ready. Sergio is a machinist who works the middle ground between incoming parts and assembly, making sure every component is machined to spec and meets manufacturer’s (and NASVI’s) standards before it moves down the line. It’s precise, detail-oriented work and Sergio takes that seriously. He’ll tell you point blank: any small mistake can affect how a safety valve performs, and that’s not something you blow off.
He didn’t come up through the trades in the usual way. Sergio grew up in Anaheim, California, spending summers the way a lot of kids did, riding bikes, swimming and playing every sport imaginable. Football and soccer to name a few. He spent a few years in the restaurant industry, managing and running back-of-house operations before his father-in-law introduced him into machining. He found NASVI through an Indeed search six months ago.
What keeps him engaged is the complexity. Every valve is a little different and understanding why the details matter, like why a tiny deviation can compromise the whole thing, gives the work real weight. He’s already branched into programming and design work and plans to keep learning.
Outside of work, Sergio’s time belongs to his family. He and his wife have a 15-year-old daughter and a 10-year-old son. To Sergio, being present is everything.
