The Chiefs Have a Lesson for All of Us

It was weird not having the Chiefs in the playoffs and Super Bowl this year. For the last seven years, Kansas City’s identity has been wrapped up in our football team’s amazing success. During the doldrums of Midwestern winters, we’ve had the distraction of a winning team to help us get through the cold months. It brought friends, strangers and an entire city together like nothing else ever has. So, this year we’re all just lost on what to do.

I’ve been fortunate to have a little distraction with my undergrad alma mater making it to the national championship game, but it’s still different from the pride our Chiefs brought to the community. I think the most important outcome of that winning streak was the joy and unity we all felt. I am truly grateful for the run and hope we see more success in future seasons. The team now must evaluate every aspect of a disappointing season and reset to achieve its goals going forward.

That is a lesson for all of us. You cannot keep doing the same thing over and over and expect it to always work. We tried running it back for years and while that worked early on, eventually that plan became outdated and our players aged. Just like a football team, businesses can also get old and stale. We all need to keep evolving or be passed up.

One way to separate yourself from others is by giving your customers the knowledge that makes them a winner in their customers’ eyes. That is where our team comes in. It’s not just supplying your customers with valves. It’s also solving their problems. It might start with noticing the operating pressure is too close to set pressure and suggesting a change to avoid a leak on installation. Or, if a valve is leaking, knowing the questions to ask to assess whether the issue lies with the valve, the installation or other system components.

We are here to help guide you through selecting valves and troubleshooting when needed. That is how we separate ourselves from others. Doing more than the bare minimum, helping and guiding customers to success.

We look forward to hearing from you and are thankful for the trust and support you have shown us over the past 50 years.
