AJ Bohrn, Valve Puller
If you’ve spent any time around the NASVI Service Center, chances are you’ve crossed paths with AJ Bohrn even if you didn’t realize it at the time.
AJ is one of the people behind the scenes who keeps work moving. After starting out as a valve setter, he asked to learn more about how the shop operates and transitioned into a role that supports multiple steps of the process. Today, AJ pulls valves, writes up the paperwork, and makes sure each valve gets where it needs to go. Basically, he helps keep valves and work on track.
What drew AJ to the industry in the first place was curiosity. “I didn’t even know what safety valves were,” he says. “It’s a niche world, and that’s what made it interesting.” That perspective stuck with him. He’s quick to point out how often people never notice safety valves quietly doing their job, protecting lives every day. (Including at a popular Kansas City distillery for which AJ set a valve once.)
Born in Iowa and raised in Kansas City North, AJ likes learning new roles and has his eye on continuing to grow whether that’s deeper into shop leadership or eventually into sales. Outside of work, life recently got a little busier. AJ and his wife welcomed their first child, and free time now looks a lot like staying home, though concerts are still a favorite when they can make it happen. Pre-baby, he estimates they attended over 120 concerts together.
Curious and dependable, AJ represents the kind of steady work that keeps valves running even when no one’s noticing.
